France will continue to support the Kurdistan Region and further develop its relations. 

Hoshyar Siwaily, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office, welcomed French Consul General Olivier Decottignies and discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Siwaily, on behalf of the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), thanked the people and the government of the Republic of France for their continued support for the people of Kurdistan and the regional government. The latest phase of the formation of the next federal government and relations between the political parties to reach an agreement is ongoing with hope of a better understanding of the future. 

The head of the foreign relations of KDP emphasized balance and partnership on the administration level of the federal government and institutions, so they can serve the entire components of Iraq. 

Mr. Decottignies reiterated his country's continuous assistance and support to the Iraqi people and the federal government. The French government supports official state institutions so they can serve the citizens of Iraq and provide security and opportunities for the population. 

During the talks, the situation in Syria and ongoing developments have caused concern over the events of the past few days, which need cooperation to reduce the threats of the terrorist insurgence. Regional military and intelligence agencies and the international coalition cooperation is required to ensure peace and stability for the region. Mr. Decottignies emphasized the importance of co-operation and understanding between the regional government political parties, components and  citizens to achieve peace, prosperity and a brighter future that everyone deserves.
