President Masoud Barzani receives a delegation from Austria's Foreign Ministry

On Sunday, February 6, 2022, President Masoud Barzani welcomed a delegation from Austria's foreign ministry, joined by Gerald Volmer, head of the Middle East, North Africa and South Europe department at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, and Oscar Westinger, Austria's Ambassador to Iraq.

 

The meeting highlighted the historical and friendly relationship between Kurdistan and Austria and emphasized on the development of relations and friendship between the two sides.

 

At the same meeting, views on Iraq's political situation, post-election developments and constitutional steps to form a new Iraqi federal government were exchanged, and the guest delegation noted the importance of Iraq's stability. Adding that the recent parliamentary elections were an ideal election.

 

In another part of the meeting, the recent events in Syria, the threat of terrorism and extremist ideology on the security of the world and the region were discussed. It was stressed that a comprehensive global effort is needed to confront terrorism and eradicate it.
