The Italian Ambassador to Iraq expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of the Kurdistan Peshmerga in the fight against ISIS terrorists

President Masoud Barzani welcomes Italian Ambassador to Iraq. 

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, President Masoud Barzani welcomed Maurizio Greganti, Italy's Ambassador to Iraq.

The meeting, also attended by Italian Consul General in Erbil, Michele Cameron, exchanged views on the political situation in Iraq and the region, as well as the constitutional steps following the first session of the Iraqi House of Representatives and the decisions of the Supreme Federal Court of Iraq.

The Italian Ambassador to Iraq expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of the Kurdistan Peshmerga in the fight against ISIS terrorists, stressing that Italy would continue to support the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces with its allies.

In addition to pointing out the historical relationship between the two sides, it was emphasized on developing and deepening the friendship between the Kurdish and the Italian people. 

The internal situation and the coming elections in the Kurdistan Region were other topics of the meeting. President Barzani confirmed that the elections in the Kurdistan Region will be held on time.
