President Barzani and Head of UNAMI in Iraq discussed the political situation and the latest changes at the regional and international level

President Masoud Barzani welcomes the Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI)

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, President Massoud Barzani welcomed Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). 

The meeting exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq's political process and the constitutional steps to form a new government and ways to overcome the political impasse in Iraq.

The meeting also discussed the issues between Erbil and Baghdad efforts to co-operate with the regional government and the Iraqi government, and the role the United Nations would play.

The political situation and the latest changes at the regional and international levels were other topics of the meeting.
