President Masoud Barzani welcomes Canada's Ambassador to Iraq

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, President Masoud Barzani welcomed Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Gregory Galligan and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the political situation in Iraq, the obstacles to Iraq's political process and the constitutional steps to form the new Iraqi government.

The Canadian Ambassador emphasized the importance of Kurdistan's position and announced his country’s appreciation to the sacrifices of the Kurdish people in the ISIS war and the protection of religious and national coexistence in Kurdistan. He also showed his country's readiness to develop economic, scientific and academic relations. President Barzani thanked Canada for its role in helping the Peshmerga and supporting the Kurdish people during the troubled days.

Promoting women's positions in Kurdistan and expanding women's participation in various community events were other topics of the meeting.
