The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Iraq and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, discuss the current situation in Iraq

Mr Martin Cobbler, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Iraq was received, in Erbil, by Dr Kamal Kerkuki Member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, head of Relations, and Mr Hemin Hawrami head of KDP’s Foreign Relations Office. At the meeting, they discussed the current situation in Kurdistan and the developments in the region and discussed the latest political developments in Iraq. They also discussed the differences among Iraqi political parties and the Central Government. Mr  Cobbler stressed that is the obligation of all parties, to the conventions, and the Constitution to resolve differences and the participation of all parties in the political process for administering the country. Dr Kamal Kerkuki, stressed the Kurdish commitment to the Iraqi Constitution and the conventions and that Kurds were not due to differences and problems and referred to President Massoud Barzani's efforts to end the crisis, but the lack of commitment of some parties towards the Constitution and the conventions and attempt exclusivity provision led to the deepening of the crisis and that the main reason for the crisis is the Prime Minister of Iraq.
