President Barzani received the Representative of the European Union in Iraq.

President Masoud Barzani welcomed Vili Varjola, European Union's Ambassador to Iraq.

In the meeting, the Ambassador of the European Union appreciated the role of late Mustafa Barzani in the struggle of the Kurdish people, with emphasizing the friendship between the people of Kurdistan and the European Union. He also expressed his deep concern about the missile attack on the city of Erbil and reiterated that the stability of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq is of great importance to the European Union.

The meeting also discussed the political situation in Iraq, the constitutional steps to form the new Iraqi Government and exchanged views on the consequences of the Erbil missile attack and efforts to undermine stability.

In another part of the meeting, President Barzani in response to a question from the European Union ambassador about the perpetrators of the Erbil missile attack, announced that those who claimed responsibility for the attack were in fact they cannot directly respond to the people that they claimed  hit in Erbil, instead they attack innocent civilian and residential area. 

Threats of terrorism and cause of immigration were the another topics of the meeting.
