Wednesday, March 30, 2022, President Masoud Barzani welcomed US Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew H. Tueller and accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed Iraq's political process and the steps to form a new Iraqi Federal Government.
In the meeting, the US Ambassador to Iraq reaffirmed his country's support for the stability of the Kurdistan Regional Government and Iraq. Stressing that the United States wants the incoming Iraqi government to be a strong government. The Ambassador expressed his appreciated President Barzani's role in establishing the Kurdistan Region and the new Iraq.
In part of the meeting, opinions were exchanged about the challenges and obstacles to the political process and the pressure on the political parties to not succeed in the constitutional and democratic procedures in Iraq's political process. President Barzani stated that in order to correct the situation in Iraq, the House of Representatives and other institutions should carry out their natural duties far from any pressure and apply the principles of partnership, balance and constitution.
