Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations office (KDP-FRO) attended a conference in Berlin organized by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Academy (KAS).

Hoshyar Siwaily head of KDP-FRO participated in the conference under the Agony of Choice- Political Participation in the Middle East and North Africa organized by KAS. 

 

A number of distinguished experts and analysts from the Middle East participated in the three panels of the conference and discussed the current political and economic situation of the region.  

 

The first subject of the panel was was Role and Self Understanding of Parties in the Region. Mr. Siwaily contributed in the panel and talked about the role and experience of the KDP on the regional and federal levels as one of biggest political party in the country. Head of KDP Foreign Relations Office highlights were on the role of the KDP in the political process, strengthening democratic institutions, transparency in governance and serving the people of the country.

 

Another part of the panel was about the obstacles and challenges to our multi party system and the tendency by some political parties and sects to go back to the old days of centralization which hurt the country and the people in the past century. 

 

Hoshyar Siwaily and delegation visited the German Foreign Ministry and the Bundestag and met with a number of parliamentarians and civil servants and discussed the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and wider region. 

 

Head of the KDP-FRO thanked the KAS Academy and Dr. Canan Atilgan, Ludwig Schulz, Luisa Kupfernagel and others, who organized the conference and brought political and diplomatic figures from different countries to the event and made it successful.
