Fazel Mirani received Mark Richardson, British Ambassador to Iraq.

Fazil Merani, Political Bureau Secretary General of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Mr. Hoshyar Zebari, Member of the Political Bureau received UK Ambassador and accompanied delegation including David Hunt, British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Hoshyar Siwayli, Head of the KDP  Foreign Relations Bureau was also present at the meeting.

 

In the meeting, Mr. Mirani and Mr. Zebari thanked the people and government of the United Kingdom for their continuous assistance to the Kurdistan Region.

 

The meeting discussed the formation of the next Federal Government of Iraq and the efforts of the tripartite coalition to establish new cabinets with the guest delegation.

 

 The British Ambassador considered the meeting and dialogue between the PUK and PDK as important and expressed his country's position on the importance of holding the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections on time.

 

 Regarding the political process in Iraq, the British Ambassador said that they will not interfere, but play a positive role to bring the parties together and remove obstacles, because Iraq needs stability and the Iraqi people need jobs and service projects.

 

 The Secretary of the Political Bureau thanked the British Consul General for his influential role in strengthening relations between the UK and the Kurdistan Region.
