President Masoud Barzani's message commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the September Revolution

The great September Revolution led by Mala Mustafa Barzani was the greatest political and armed revolution to regain the national and civil rights of the people of Kurdistan. The September Revolution restored the will and self-confidence of the people of Kurdistan and became a strong political, ideological and social basis for the struggle of liberation for the people of Kurdistan against the system and occupation.

The September Revolution was a genuine revolution in Kurdistan, in which all classes of Kurdistan’s society of different nations and religions, in all parts of Kurdistan, together supported the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and worked for a sacred cause. This also led to the success of great sovereignty, history and achievements for the people of Kurdistan and became a voice to the region and the world.

All those achievements and struggles and political developments in Kurdistan were the result of the sacrifices and struggles of our people in the September Revolution. Therefore, the values and the lessons ​​ ​of that great revolution must remain high for all of us and become the light of our future path.

In commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the September Revolution, I convey my respect and appreciation for all the heroes, workers and laborers who played a role in the September Revolution and made sacrifices, for those who are not among us and those who are still alive. 

I salute the souls of the martyrs of the September Revolution and all the martyrs on the path to freedom.
