Austria's Ambassadors to Iraq and Jordan admired of Kurdistan and prosperity and progress in the region

Kurdistan-Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met the ambassadors of Iraq and Jordan in Erbil.

Their meeting discussed the political situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s relations with the federal government of Baghdad and to promote relations between Kurdistan and Austria.

Of the political situation in Iraq and the outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad, Mr Barzani said under accordance to the permanent constitution of Iraq, Kurdistan wants participation in governance with the rights and obligations of the federal government.

Discussing the relations between Kurdistan and Austria, the two sides expressed their desires to strengthen relations and expand the horizons of joint cooperation, particularly in economic and trade fields. The ambassador of Austria strives to make relations with the Kurdistan region and announced the opening of a Consulate and soon appointing an honorary consul in the region.

Mr Barzani for his part, welcomed the efforts of Austria, and the KRG is ready for any cooperation and provide all the facilities in this area, while announcing that the doors of Kurdistan are open to Austrian investment companies.

The current situation and the latest developments on the Syrian crisis was another focus of the meeting with Mr Barzani and Austria's ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, where both sides expressed concern about the situation.
