Marshal Sammy Sampson Senior UK Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa reaffirmed his country's commitment to friendship and alliance with the Kurdistan Region and support and coordination with the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.

President Masoud Barzani received British Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa Marshal Sammy Sampson and an accompanying delegation.

 In the meeting, the British Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa reaffirmed his country's commitment to friendship and alliance with the Kurdistan Region and support and coordination with the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.  He also thanked President Barzani for his role in trying to unite the Peshmerga units under the umbrella of the Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government.  He stressed that the rights and entitlements of the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga should be protected within the framework of the Iraqi defense system.

 President Barzani congratulated the new British government and thanked the UK and its allies for their assistance to the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS.  In another part of the meeting, President Barzani, while referring to the role of the Peshmerga in the struggle of the Kurdish people, stressed that the Peshmerga will protect the legitimate cause of the Kurdish people and human causes and values.

 Regarding the reforms of the Peshmerga forces, President Barzani said that he supports all the reforms of the Peshmerga Ministry and considered it necessary that the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces have a single accounting unit and be under a single leadership, which is the Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
