Senator Christian Cambon Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces reiterates France’s support to the People of Kurdistan .

President Masoud Barzani received Senator Christian Cambon, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces  of the French Senate.

 In the meeting, which was also attended by Olivier Decottignies, French Consul General in Erbil, Senator Cambon expressed his appreciation for the constructive role of President Barzani in the political affairs of Iraq and Kurdistan. He said that President Macron had suggested to meet President Barzani and seek his views on the political situation in Iraq.

 The two sides discussed the political situation in Iraq and exchanged views on the agreement reached between the the Coordination Framework and the Sunnis and the Kurds on the basis of the Constitution.

 Regarding the missile attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Kurdistan Region, both sides called the attack on civilians and the bombing of schools and civilian places a serious crime.

 In another part of the meeting, President Barzani thanked the French people and government for their support to the Kurdish people during the difficult days, especially the visit of President Hollande during the attack of ISIS on Kurdistan was a great sign of friendship between the French people and the Kurdish people.

 Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces  of the French Senate said that his country will continue to support and strengthen friendship with the Kurdish people.  At the end of the meeting, the Chairman presented President Barzani with the Medal of honour from the French Senate.
