President Barzani, The tragedy and massacre of the Failis are a ring in a series of crimes committed against the Kurdish people.

President Masoud Barzani attended the International Scientific Conference on the Genocide of the Faily Kurds in Erbil.

President Barzani delivered a speech at the conference.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Dear attendees

I welcome you all. A special and

warm welcome to the Failis brothers and sisters.

First of all, I would like to welcome the participants and wish this conference, The International Scientific Conference on Genocide of the Kurdish People, every success. This conference is dedicated to the genocide of the Failis Kurds.

There is no doubt that the Failis are a main and inseparable part of the Kurdish people. Every attempt has been made to destroy them, but despite all these efforts, they have preserved their identity and culture, despite being attacked from both sides.

The devoted Failis actively participated in the establishment of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and participated in the leadership of the September Revolution. Many of the participants may know that several important leadership positions were held by the Failis such as the position of Secretary of the Party, Secretary of the Union of Kurdistan Women, Secretary of the Union of Kurdistan Students and many more positions.  The Failis had won the trust of the immortal Barzani because of their loyalty and dedication to their work.

The Failis have suffered many hardships. The regime has tried to disassociate them from their national and patriotic positions and separate them from their nation by many means, but all the means have failed, so they resorted to brutal means, including forced deportation on the grounds that they are foreigners  and confiscating their fixed and movable assets.

Despite all this, the number is undoubtedly 12,000 young people and maybe more, but that is the number we are sure of, between the ages of 18 and 30, who were brutally killed and no one knows where they are buried. Certainly, in 1981, chemical weapons were tested on 300 Faily youth in the Akashaat area, and then the same test was carried out on around 150 Barzani youth who were also killed.

The tragedy and massacre of the Failis are a ring in a series of crimes committed against the Kurdish people.  We have all seen what happened to the Yezidis in a massacre that exceeded all expectations. Our people will not forget those crimes, when the opportunity arose, they did not take revenge and will not do so, but they will not forget them.

Brothers and sisters

Speeches and words are not enough, but all means must be explored to prevent the repetition of such crimes in the future, and all the victims of genocide in Kurdistan, especially the Failis, must be compensated fairly and all their rights must be restored.

I propose to open a center in Erbil to monitor all the affairs of the Failis, to become a marja'a for the Failis.

In conclusion, I would say (a verse from the Holly Quran):

“Think not of those who have been slain in the cause of God as dead, but alive with their Lord, being provided for.”
