The General Consulates and diplomatic missions of 13 countries in the Kurdistan Region have called for holding parliamentary elections in the region on time.

The Consulates General and diplomatic representations of UK, US,Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, the EU, France, Czechia, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland and Romania commend the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, and the people of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for their ongoing commitment to democratic principles and values and welcome the renewed spirit of cooperation between the parties. It is in this spirit that we urge the Kurdistan Regional Parliament and the Kurdistan Regional Government to take all necessary steps to ensure that elections take place without further postponement.

 We underline the importance of free and fair elections. As such, we call upon all relevant authorities, political parties, and all other stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to work collaboratively and overcome remaining obstacles in order to guarantee an electoral process that adheres to international standards and upholds the rights of all citizens, including women and minorities, to participate in the democratic process.
