What has happened in the past few days in the Iraqi Parliament has unveiled the true face of chauvinistic parties and showing lack of respect for their signatures and the constitution.

Message from President Barzani to the public

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

It is deeply regrettable what has happened in the past few days in the Iraqi Parliament, with irresponsible and unconstitutional attempts aimed at exacerbating problems and violating the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people. Everyone is aware that there have been constructive dialogues leading to agreements among the components of the State Administration Alliance to remove obstacles and resolve issues.

The federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government have reached a positive and beneficial agreement to solve dilemmas, in order to strengthen the foundations of stability in the country and serve the people. Unfortunately, some political parties, out of ingratitude and denial, have acted irresponsibly to undermine the Kurdistan Region.

However, their attempts have failed and been disregarded. What has happened in the past few days in the Iraqi Parliament has unveiled the true face of chauvinistic parties and their bargaining tactics, showing their lack of respect for their own commitments and signatures, and their disregard for the constitution.

Now, after the approval of the budget law in the Iraqi Parliament, I hope its provisions will be implemented in good faith.

We reaffirm that the Kurdistan Region is the homeland of Kurdish people, a product of their blood, sacrifices, and struggle. We strongly oppose any reckless attempt to surpass or undermine the existence of the Kurdistan Region. For us, the Kurdistan Region is not just a red line but a matter of life and death. It's either Kurdistan or death .
