Message from President Masoud Barzani on the occasion of the Uprising

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the people's uprising, I congratulate the proud families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmergas, all patriots, freedom loving and all the people of Kurdistan.

The uprising was an extension of decades of struggle and the product of resistance, endeavours, sacrifices of the masses and the patriotic forces of Kurdistan. It became a new beginning and a new hope in the life of our people. 

The people's uprising against the oppressive and occupying institutions was a very clear message that despite the strength of the occupiers, the will to live proudly and to be free has always been and will stay in the hearts of Kurdish people.The achievements of the uprising belong to the people of Kurdistan and future generations. 

On the occasion of commemorating the uprising of the People of Kurdistan, we emphasize that the achievements, goals and values of the uprising must be uphold , protected and strengthened. They must not be forgotten or distorted under any circumstances and under any pressure.

Greetings to the souls of the martyrs of the uprising and all the martyrs of our liberation movement.
