Kurdistan President talks Middle East political developments with Russian Foreign Minister

President of Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani held talks on the political developments with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia.

The two sides stressed the depth of historical relations between the two sides

where Foreign Minister Lavrov praised the role of President Barzani in stability and peace in the region.

The Russian Committee thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for their support and cooperation with the Russian consulate in Erbil and confirmed their Government's support to development projects in Kurdistan.

On the issues in Iraq, the Mr Lavrov welcomed the developments and recent meetings between the two sides where President Barzani thanked the Russian leader for their warm welcome and reception.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the region and particularly the Syrian issue and they discussed the development of economic relations, investment and humanitarian prospects with the Kurdistan-Region in the context of expanding relations between Russia and Iraq in general.
