Hawrami and Vicar discuss the political situation in the region and bilateral relations between Kurdistan and Italy

The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office received Italian Consular in Erbil Mr Carmelo Vicar.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Vicar expressed his appreciation for the meeting and talked of consolidating bilateral relations in the interest of the parties.

For his part, Mr Hawrami welcomed Mr Vicar then moving on to the current political situation in Kurdistan and the legislative elections to be held in September and asked the Italian official to request from NGOs and civil organisations from Italy for election observation.

Mr Hawrami then noted the President Massoud Barzani's message about prolongation of the Parliament that he had not signed a law extending of a presidency term in the region however asking the next Parliament to prepare and review the draft constitution and put it to a referendum

Hawrami said  that President Barzani does not stand as a candidate in the upcoming elections and the lack of credibility of what poses about the nomination of the President Barzani the President of Iraq Republic

The Syrian situation was another aspect of this meeting where Mr Hawrami said the KDP's has a positive implement regarding the Kurdish people's rights through peaceful and democratic.

The meeting concluded with President Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad in attempt to resolve the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government in Iraq.
