The Kurdistan Democratic Party's Head of Foreign Relations Office Mr Hemin Hawrami held talks on Kurdistan with the British General-Consul of Kurdistan Mr Hugh Evans in Erbil.
Mr Hawrami welcomed Mr Evans and referred to the meeting between the political parties across Kurdistan with President Massoud Barzani for talks on consolidating a national conference to unify Kurds and for a peaceful co-existence between all parts of the region.
The upcoming elections for Parliament were the subject of talks between the two sides and talks of extending the Parliament and presidency in the region. The extension of Parliament was “lacking a legal vacuum pending the elections,” Hawrami said.
President Barzani, requested in a letter addressed to the people of Kurdistan the next Parliament should build a consensus over the Constitution and hold an election of a new President.
The meeting also held talks on the current crisis in Syria where Mr Hawrami confirmed the KDP's stance that Kurdish people in the crisis have legitimate rights to living in a peaceful and democratic society
