President Masoud Barzani, discussed the ongoing war against the Islamic State (IS), and the international efforts to counter terrorism for world stability with Swedish Ambassador. President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Saturday received the newly appointed Swedish Ambassador to Iraq, Jonas Loven, in Erbil.
Barzani and Loven discussed the important role of the Kurdish diaspora in Sweden who have well contributed to strengthening the ties between Erbil and Stockholm.
“The Swedish Ambassador in Iraq praised the Peshmerga forces of Kurdistan Region for their role in the war against terrorism,” the press release added, noting that the efforts by the Kurdistan Region to protect millions of refugees and IDPs escaping from IS, was highlighted.
Ambassador Loven also hoped the economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and Sweden will grow stronger, an idea that was welcomed by Barzani.
