During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Andrew Bizley, the UK Consul General in Erbil. the UK Ambassador to Iraq congratulated President Barzani on the success of the Kurdistan Parliament elections that took place last October, which witnessed a high voter turnout, and were held in a safe and calm atmosphere. President Barzani expressed his thanks to the people of Kurdistan for their participation in the elections with such a large turnout.
The negotiations related to the formation of the next government in the Kurdistan Region and its work agenda were another focus of the meeting. President Barzani stressed that the party does not place a veto on any party regarding the formation of the government, stressing the need for the talks to be within the framework of the existence of one Region, one Parliament, one Government, and one Peshmerga Forces.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the results of the US presidential elections and their repercussions on global and regional issues and equations, in addition to discussing the political situation in Iraq and the election of the new Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament.
