Commitment to Principles of Democracy Restores Stability in Iraq: Barzani

President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Tuesday received new German Ambassador to Iraq Martin Jaegar in Erbil where they discussed the future of Iraq after the recent elections.

Barzani argued that true partnership, commitment to the principles of democracy, and constitution are the key to restore stability in Iraq, according to a statement by Barzani Headquarters.

The German ambassador conveyed the greetings of his country's president and government to Barzani, stressing that Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are a focus of great interest for his country, reiterating the continuation of Germany's support and friendship to the autonomous region.

He also commended the reconstruction and stability prevailing in the region, the statement added.

During the meeting, they also discussed the results of the Iraqi parliament elections and their effects on the future of Iraq, where Barzani noted that implementing true partnership and adhering to the constitution and principles of democracy "have direct effects on the stability and improving the situation in Iraq."
