KDP Secretary receives Consul-General of Turkey in Kurdistan

THE Secretary of Kurdistan Democratic Party Political Bureau Fadil Mirani met with Consul-General of Turkey in Kurdistan Mr Mohammed Akif.

Mr Mirani welcomed Mr Akif and wished him success in his new role, while emphasising the importance of Kurdish-Turkish relations. Mr Mirani noted that Turkey was among the first to establish a Consulate in Kurdistan.

Mr Akif expressed his delight for meeting Mr Mirani and gave his congratulations on KDP's successful legislative elections. He also condemned the recent terrorist attacks that took place in Erbil and announced his country's support to help eliminate extremism.

On lauding the consular relations between the two sides, Mr Mirani said: "We have taken steps toward stability and peace for the rights of all ethnic groups in Kurdistan," and thanked the Turkish government for official condemnation of terrorist
