THE Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Peter Wanterhantil received Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Head of Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami and his accompanying associate, Sherko Habeb office member
During the meeting, which was attended by Dr Tibor Szatmari, Hungary’s Ambassador to Iraq and Ambassador Istvan Szabó, official Middle East and Africa representative in the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.
Mr Wanterhantil congratulated the KDP for winning a majority of seats in the Parliament of Kurdistan, and expressed regret over the terrorist incident that occurred in Erbil at the end of September.
The two sides discussed developing relations and the exchange of experiences. Mr Wanterhantil confirmed that his government had decided to open a Consulate in Erbil in February 2014.
For his part, Mr Hawrami expressed his thanks for the meeting and he talked of the current situation in Kurdistan, relations with the central government of Iraq and Syrian refugees in Kurdistan.
