President of Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani held a meeting Sunday in Salahaddin with the heads of department of Kurdish factions from Iraqi Parliament.
The focal point of the meeting was to discuss the law of elections that has been agreed in Iraqi Parliament, and not giving certainty to Kirkuk in the forthcoming elections.
Another important aspect of the meeting was to try to persuade the Iraqi government of conducting a general population census, to implement partnership and agreement principles in Iraq.
They discussed that while Kurds didn’t hope for the pending election laws, it gave a positive indication that it wasn’t approved without the Kurdish side being present and Kirkuk was not a priority.
Conclusively, all Kurdish representatives and members of the Iraqi Parliament agreed that the law of federal departments and political blocs should be accepted by the parliament as soon as possible.
