The visit, which came on the occasion of the end of the duties of the US Ambassador to Iraq, who visited President Barzani to bid farewell, the Ambassador renewed her congratulations to President Barzani on the occasion of the success of the Kurdistan Parliament elections that took place last October, and considered setting the date for the first session of the Kurdistan Parliament is an important step.
She also expressed her hope that the meetings of the Kurdish political parties would yield positive results and that they would agree to form the tenth government cabinet in the region as soon as possible. The US Ambassador also thanked President Barzani for his continuous support and cooperation during her tenure, describing President Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad as important for its role in bringing the political parties closer together and improving relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government.
For his part, President Barzani expressed his thanks to the US Ambassador, wishing her success in her new duties. He stressed the depth of relations between the United States, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, which have witnessed good development, expressing his hope to sustain and expand bilateral relations.
The political situation, the latest developments, challenges and changes facing the region, in addition to the risks of the return of terrorism and the necessary measures to protect the security and stability of Iraq and the region in general were other topics of the meeting.
