PRESIDENT of Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani received a delegation from the U.S Department of State for talks on the latest developments in the region and in Iraq.
Mr Barzani spoke of his recent trip to Diyarbakir, designating it as “historic” while adding relations between the Kurds and Turks are proposing a new level on the foundation of understanding, peace and cohabitation.
The US delegation was headed by Deputy-Assistant Secretary
for Iraq and Iran, Mr Brett McGurk who articulated optimism towards the actions of the Kurdistan-Region and President Barzani, on behalf of the Obama administration.
Mr Barzani and Mr McGurk also discussed the upcoming elections in Iraq scheduled for April 2014 and on the latest developments in the Middle-East, in particular the ongoing crisis in neighbouring Syria.
