During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Michele Camerota, the Italian Consul General in Erbil, the new Italian Ambassador expressed his happiness to assume his duties in Iraq and his visit to the Kurdistan Region, pointing to the friendly relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region, and expressed his readiness to deepen and expand those relations in various fields.
The Italian Ambassador to Iraq praised the successful organization of the Kurdistan Parliament elections and the broad participation of citizens in them, considering the holding of the process in a calm and peaceful atmosphere as a great achievement for the region and an important step in the path of implementing democracy.
During the meeting, President Barzani congratulated the Italian Ambassador on assuming his new duties, wishing him success in his work, and pointed to the importance of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Italy, describing those ties as friendly and historical.
The meeting also discussed developments in the political situation in Iraq and the latest developments and changes in the region, as well as the challenges related to the return of terrorism.
It is worth noting that the Italian Consul General, Mr. Michele Camerota, who concluded his duties in Erbil, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the people of Kurdistan during the meeting, bidding farewell to President Barzani.
