Massoud Barzani: “The Kurdish people were divided against their will and desire, have been attacked and denied their rights"

President of Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani received the former foreign minister of Serbia and former president of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr Vuk Jeremić.

At the outset of the meeting, Mr Jeremić said he was pleased to visit Kurdistan and meet with Mr Barzani. He expressed his sympathy for the tragedy suffered by the Kurdish people, while praising the fortitude for their legitimate rights and hoped the expectations of the Kurds for living in peace, progresses successfully.

Mr Barzani thanked Mr Jeremić for expressing his sympathy and solidarity with the legitimate demands of the Kurdish people, who said “the Kurdish people were divided against their will and desire, have been attacked and denied their rights, which led to violence and now obliged to maintain the national identity.”

The Kurdish people will continue their quest to obtain all its legitimate rights but it will depend on a peaceful dialogue, Mr Barzani noted, as they have learned in recent history battling with dictatorial regimes.
