Message of President Barzani on the occasion of the New Year

In the name of God, the Gracious the Merciful

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all citizens of Kurdistan on the occasion of the New Year. I congratulate the proud families of the martyrs and the heroic Peshmergas and wish everyone happiness and prosperity.

It is a great pleasure that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held successfully last October and in this election the People of Kurdistan clearly conveyed their message and will. On this basis, the voice and demands of the People of Kurdistan must be answered through the formation of the tenth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government as soon as possible to ensure that the Kurdistan Regional Government implements its plans and programs to serve the People of Kurdistan.

We emphasize that the outstanding issues between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government should be resolved within the framework of the constitution and agreements and through dialogue and coordination, and no longer create obstacles for the rights of the People of Kurdistan.

As we approach the beginning of the new year, our region is going through a sensitive juncture. The events and changes in Syria, while affecting the situation in our region and the equations, are also a new opportunity for the Syrian people to build a solid foundation for coexistence, peace and stability through dialogue and understanding.

our region can no longer tolerate problems, violence, terrorism, extremism and instability. Therefore, all parties must rely on the language of dialogue and understanding and avoid denial and ethnic and religious prejudice. Everyone must know that self-imposition does not work.

We hope that peace and coexistence will prevail in our region in the new year. I ask almighty God to protect our people from all kinds of diseases, misery and disasters.
