President Barzani receives British Military Delegation

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, President Masoud Barzani welcomed a British military delegation in Salahaddin, led by Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME).

The meeting, which included Mr. Andrew Bizley, the British Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, focused on the latest developments and the political and security landscape in Iraq and the surrounding region.

The delegation condemned the recent drone attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the region's security and stability. They called for an immediate cessation of these attacks and urged for the identification and prosecution of those responsible in accordance with the law.

Additionally, the discussions highlighted the necessity of enhancing military and security cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the UK. The meeting also touched upon the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government, as well as the internal political dynamics within the region.
