President Barzani receives Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States

President Masoud Barzani received, today, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Salahaddin, Ms. Victoria Taylor, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

During the meeting views and perspectives were exchanged on the political and security situations, and the latest developments in Iraq, the region and Syria.

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State praised President Barzani's efforts in sending his special representative to Syria to meet with the Kurdish parties in Syria, and stressed the United States support for all efforts that contribute to bringing the Kurdish parties closer together and achieving stability in Syria and the region.

Relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government and efforts to resolve differences were also discussed.

The guest delegation welcomed the ongoing negotiations between the political parties and the acceleration of steps aimed at forming the new government in the Kurdistan Region.

The potential threats of the return of terrorism and the need to maintain stability in Iraq and the region were other topics of the meeting.
