TUE, 13 MAY 2014 | ERBIL | FR.KDP.INFO

Officials from the Dutch embassy in Iraq came together to officially inaugurate their consulate office in Erbil, capital of the Kurdistan-Region.

Hemin Hawrami, the head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s foreign relations office, received Deputy Head of Mission in Iraq, Mr Gerard Lucius, and Head of Liaison Office in Erbil, Mr Jeroen Kelderhuis in a meeting that was attended by FRO members.

At the meeting, they discussed the current political situation in Kurdistan, and the impasse in relations with the Iraqi central government that has been intensifying relations over an array of issues stemming from oil and gas dispute, and Baghdad’s reluctance in sending the Kurdistan Regional Government’s share of revenues.

Mr Kelderhuis offered his congratulations to the KDP on winning a majority of the Kurdish vote in the recent Kurdistan provincial and Iraqi parliamentary elections before touching on the visible progress being achieved and the political maturity taking place, and praised Kurdistan’s leadership for their vision.

Mr Hawrami thanked Mr Kelderhuis for his expression and passed his gratitude to the Dutch government for their support in inaugurating their consular services in Erbil.
