Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office, Hemin Hawrami, received the US Consul-General to Erbil, Mr Joeseph Pennington and his political advisor, Mr David Kodil in a meeting to discuss the current political developments in the region.
Mr Hawrami welcomed Mr Pennington and his accompanying delegation before moving on to the results of legislative elections held on April 30, and the democratic process in the Kurdistan Region is evolving, highlighting the previous elections of 21 September.
Briefing on Iraq's ongoing federal government formation process, Mr Hawrami expressed the willingness of the Kurdish participation in unity to resolve the issues with the Baghdad government, and the Kurds would want a guarantee by the new cabinet to consolidate tensions should they arise.
For his part, Mr Pennington thanked Mr Hawrami for the meeting and expressed his congratulations to the Kurdistan people for its success of recent elections.
