The meeting discussed the political situation in Iraq, the Iraqi parliamentary elections, the threat of terrorism, extremist ideology, and the issue of developing a democratic culture and human rights.
During the meeting, in addition to mentioning the friendship between the people of Kurdistan and Sweden, the presence of a large number of Kurdish citizens and refugees in Sweden holds a strong bridge to expand relations between the two nations.
In the same meeting, the Swedish Foreign Minister acknowledged the patience and sacrifice of the Kurdish people and the Peshmerga forces in defeating ISIS terrorists and praised the Kurdistan Region's efforts to protect its structures, coexistence and strengthen the role of women in public life.
President Barzani thanked Sweden for always supporting the Kurdish people during troubled times and for its humanitarian stance on the struggle of the Kurdish people, and called for further development of friendship and relations between the Kurdistan Region and Sweden.
