Hemin Hawrami has said the Kurds would not be a part of the sectarian conflict in Iraq after Sunni rebels led by ISIS - the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant – have been storming across the northern part of Iraq, capturing key cities such as Mosul and Tikrit.
The ISIS offensive has largely avoided Kurdish-controlled areas, which are well-defended by Peshmerga militias.
In a meeting with the Mr Carmelo Ficarra, the Italian consul-general to Erbil, and the head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office highlighted the latest political developments in the region, where they conversed on topics including the ongoing formation of the regional government.
