The Iraqi crisis must be resolved tactfully and Kurds are not part of the rising conflict, Hemin Hawrami has said.
The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office received a German delegation headed by the Vice-Consul General to Erbil, Miss Begal, where they conversed on the recent turmoil in Iraq.
Mr Hawrami highlighted the latest developments on the political scene in Kurdistan, stressing the position of the KDP is that Kurds will not join a sectarian conflict under the pretext of fighting terrorism, and Peshmerga forces are more prepared than any other time to defend the interests and lives of its people.
The German vice-consul thanked the FRO for hosting the meeting, and noted on the responsibility for the current crisis in Iraq falls on the policies of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his lack of commitment to democratic principles.
Refugees in Kurdistan were another focus of the meeting where Mr Hawrami stated more than 800,000 are from Iraq and Syria, urging governments and organizations to coordinate emergency response efforts.
