President of Kurdistan Region delivers message after attacks on holy shrine

“After the fall of Mosul along with large areas of the Nineveh and Saluhuddin provinces to terrorist groups, has resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of citizens. The groups have also carried out the destruction holy Islamic buildings, and shrines that belonged to Muslim Prophets.

These practices are vehemently against the moral principles, values, humanity and the heritage of this city – along with the demographic situation of the region. We strongly declare our condemnation of the attacks on the resting places for the Prophets, righteous saints, shrines, and religious buildings. This is an act of unethical business and an act and creates terror amongst citizens of all religions and destroys sanctities of culture and history. We appeal to all Muslims to not accept such heinous acts and reject the terrorists’ demands that for citizens to stay, they must pay a “protection tax”
