The Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani, on Monday 10th Aug received a delegation from the embassy of Canada to Jordan and Iraq led by Ambassador Bruno Saccomani.
Mr Barzani welcomed the delegation praising bilateral relations between Kurdistan and Canada, as the two sides discussed the latest situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan region.
Ambassador Saccomani thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for fighting against terrorism, saying "we have come to offer more humanitarian aid to the Kurdistan region."
On the regional clashes with Islamic militants, Mr Barzani said ‘Islamic State’ group poses a threat to the international community and have been increasing threats after receiving artillery from Syria, although the Peshmerga have been recapturing towns where IS were gaining ground control.
Mr Barzani said it was a duty of the international community to assist with arming the Kurdish forces to eliminate threats against national security. He reiterated that IS are not just a terrorist organisation but a “terrorist state” while highlighting the importance of United States President Barack Obama decision to launch airstrikes to combat IS advancement.
