President meets with leaders of the Kurdistan blocs in Erbil

President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani held a meeting with political parties for talks and exchange views on the current crisis in the region.

The meeting involved leaders of political blocs of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the Change Movement, Kurdistan Islamic Group and the Islamic Union of Kurdistan.

They expressed their full support of the Peshmerga, and thanked the people of Kurdistan for their tolerance, and responsibility in supported their forces while appreciating the international community’s support.

The participants at the meeting sided with President Barzani to make a unified stance at this sensitive time to maintain national security and stressed the need to call on the Kurdish media agencies to take into civilian safety and interests when broadcasting information to the general public.

On the attempted coup d’etat in Iraq, the Kurdish leaders reiterated their support for Iraqi President Fuad Masum, and expressed the hope that the Iraqi government formation will proceed efficiently as they attempt to reconcile unity across the country
