During a telephone call with Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani, British Prime Minister David Cameron declared his full support towards the battle against Islamic militants.
Mr Barzani thanked Mr Cameron and said Kurdistan is fighting against terrorists that seek to destroy democracy, while declaring Peshmerga forces will fight to the last drop of blood.
President Barzani explained to the British Prime Minister that after nations announced their support, the people of Kurdistan are full of confidence they will succeed in defeating ISIS.
President Barzani also stressed that the people of Kurdistan do not need ground support, as the Peshmerga forces are fully capable of completing the task, especially after receiving weaponry from allied states.
The British Prime Minister was impressed by the prowess of the Peshmerga and the strong will of President Barzani’s stance against terrorism, and Mr Cameron declared Britain’s full support, in terms of military, and humanitarian assistance for the people of Kurdistan.
During the phone call, President Barzani noted his remembrance of Britain’s support for Kurdistan in 1991. President Barzani also stressed that the war on terrorism requires international support as the threat of terrorism is a worldwide issue and Kurdistan boasts of being in the foreground in this war.
Towards the latter stages of the phone call, President Barzani and the British Prime Minister discussed the latest situation in Iraq, along with its developments; the formation of the new Iraqi government was also discussed during the phone call.
