Joint Statement on the Meeting Between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan

In the joint statement following the meeting between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to continuing discussions to foster deeper mutual understanding and to develop a unified and mutually accepted program in the interest of the people of the Kurdistan Region.

The official meeting, held today, Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Sulaimani, brought together negotiation teams from both parties. The primary agenda focused on reviewing and discussing the joint committee's report, which encompassed a range of critical topics, including political perspectives, governance mechanisms, and steps related to the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), as well as other institutional arrangements.

During the discussions, both delegations thoroughly examined the contents of the report, exchanged views, and deliberated on a practical mechanism for coordination and agreement on all relevant matters.

As a result, both parties agreed to continue their meetings in order to enhance understanding and finalize a coordinated and consensus-based roadmap that serves the best interests of the people of the Kurdistan Region.
