The Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council, Masrour Barzani has emphasised the United States’ airstrikes on the ‘Islamic State’ has restricted their operations within Iraq and as result have suffered significant losses to the terrorist organisation.
Mr Barzani also said an expansion of airstrikes on a geographically wider scale would “destroy IS tactics,” but would force them to change their methods. He said, “they [IS] will cease to use military convoys and rather use civilian vehicles to escape the warplanes targets.”
‘Targeting the IS leaders by airstrikes will have an enormous effect on eradicating their organisation,” Mr Barzani said, while adding that the recapture of Mosul’s dam is coherent and won’t necessarily mean they will not avert attempts to take control of new areas.
