The Head of KDP Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami received the South Korean Consul-General to Kurdistan, Jo Yung-Mo, in a meeting to discuss the current situation in the region and developing bilateral relations between the two sides.
Mr Hawrami began by congratulating Mr Yung-Mo on assuming his new post in Erbil, wishing him success in his role. He said the Peshmerga forces are not only fighting ‘Islamic State’ militants to safeguard Kurdish territory and to eradicate their extremism from Iraq but also protecting international borders as they seek to eliminate the terrorist group entirely; American airstrikes has compensated to this effect.
On the formation of the new Iraqi government, both sides stressed that it must be formed in accordance with the constitution, obeying its principles, the guarantee of implementing Article 140, resolving oil and gas disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, and submitting salaries of civil servants and Peshmerga forces.
