President Barzani receives Italy's Ambassador to Iraq

President Masoud Barzani welcomed Mr. Bruno Antonio Pasquino, Italy's Ambassador to Iraq.

 

Ambassador Pasquino’s visit was to bid farewell as his term comes to an end in Iraq. He expressed appreciation for the sacrifice of the Kurdish people in the war on terror, stressing that his country would continue to support the Peshmerga forces.

 

The Italian ambassador described the Kurdistani people as a close friend of the Italian people and emphasized the effect of the Kurdistan Region on the stability of Iraq and the region.

 

At the meeting, President Barzani thanked the Italian people and government for supporting the Kurdistani people and the Peshmerga and welcomed the development, friendship and relations between the two countries.

 

The current political situation in Iraq, the Iraqi elections and its results were other topics of the meeting. In connection with the threat of terrorism and extremism, both sides agreed that terrorism is still a common threat to the world and that the reasons for the emergence of terrorism remain unresolved.

 

It is worth mentioning that the new Italian Consul in Erbil, Massimo Palozzi, attended the meeting, and President Barzani wished Ambassador Pasquino success in his next duties.
