During the meeting, the Dutch Consul General acknowledged President Barzani’s pivotal role in the political history of the region and Iraq, as well as his efforts in ensuring the stability of the Kurdistan Region. While highlighting the significance and influence of the Kurdistan Region, he also reaffirmed his country’s willingness to strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region across various sectors, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and environmental protection.
In response, President Barzani expressed his gratitude to the people and government of the Netherlands for their support of the Kurdish people during difficult times. He also appreciated the Dutch military forces for their assistance to the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS as part of the international coalition. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of expanding relations and fostering stronger ties between the people of Kurdistan and the Netherlands.
The meeting also covered discussions on the political situation in Iraq and the region, developments in Syria, and the ongoing peace process in Turkey. President Barzani reaffirmed his commitment to supporting efforts aimed at facilitating the peace process and finding solutions in Turkey.
