China supports all international efforts assisting Kurdistan combatting IS militants

Hemin Hawrami received China’s Consul-General to Kurdistan, Mr Tan Bang Lin, and his accompanying delegation in a meeting to discuss the consolidation and development of bilateral relations between the two sides.

The meeting was attended by members of the FRO which began with KDP’s head of foreign relations office welcoming Mr Lin and wished him success as the newly appointed and first consul general in the Kurdistan region, wishing for further trade, cultural and economic alliance opportunities.

Mr Hawrami emphasised on the current crisis in Iraq in the ongoing battle against ‘Islamic State’, where Kurdish Peshmerga have overwhelmingly been victorious in pushing militants out of their bases and recapturing ground across the region.

For his part, Mr Lin thanked Mr Hawrami and the KDP FRO for the warm reception and said China supports all international efforts to combat terrorism in Kurdistan. He also expressed his country’s efforts enhancing  bilateral relations with the region.

The five permanent UN Security Council members, United Kingdom, United States, Russia, China and France, all now have consular services in Kurdistan
