On the second day of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Hemin Hawrami delivered a speech highlighting the suffering and hardship of the Kurdish people and current developments in the region.
The head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s foreign relations office initially expressed the greetings of President Massoud Barzani to delegates in attendance before moving on to describing the intolerable inhumane acts committed against the Kurds by the former Iraqi Baa’ath regime, such as the chemical attacks on Halabja which killed 5,000 Kurds and the Kurdish genocide (Anfal).
He then emphasised on the KDP leadership how throughout all the years of struggle it made sacrifices to keep peace coexistence between its citizens.
Mr Hawrami explained how the region has assisted and aided the internally displaced people from northern Iraq and Syria who were forced to flee their homes after political persecution by the ‘Islamic State’ militants, how they are battling to eliminate terrorists out of the region and later approached delegates with requests for support in developing economic and diplomatic ties with Kurdistan.
